Description: On this crafty course you will learn the basics skills required for making alterations to your clothes, adding darts, taking up hems and trousers. We go through everything from scratch including how to use a sewing machine, how to pin and tack your work and how to check the length and fit. For those of you just wanting to get to grips with a sewing machine and learn the basics of sewing using a machine you will learn how to machine sew, how to thread the machines and make a couple of simple starter projects like a bag or cushion cover. You will also be taken through which fabrics and threads to choose for different projects and lots of professional tips and tricks.
Who is this course for: Basic Sewing and Alterations is great if you are complete beginner with no previous experience or are revisiting the craft.
What you need to bring: If
you are making alterations to your clothes you need to bring 2-3 pieces
with you to work on. If you are looking to learn basic machine sewing,
fabric is not included to allow you to make your own fabric selections
and make something that will match your home decor. Please bring with
you around a meter of fabric ideally a cotton fabric that does not
stretch as this is the easiest to learn on. If you are left handed, you may wish to bring your own scissors.
